SCA MEETING SEPTEMBER 15, 2018
IRVINE FINE ARTS CENTER

MEMBERS PRESENT: SHARON KUMP (PRESIDENT), JULIANE HODJERA, ROGER GORDON, JANET INEZ ADAMS, RANDY AU, MARY COLMAR, THOM WRIGHT, RANDALL HOLBROOK (TREASURER), KAREN FEUER SCHWAGER.
Members exhibiting current work at this meeting:
Karen, Thom, Juliane, Randy, Janet, Roger, Mary
Juliane spoke of working smaller as she ages and has less strength. She enjoys showing in SCA group exhibits but is wanting to sell or donate her larger older pieces of art.
Karen asked for feedback about her new thread and acrylic skins that she assembles into images that allude to the elements of fire and water.
Randy brought an image on his phone of ceramic tea cups and saucers that appear to teeter in a tower about to fall. He will exhibit at the ARTISTIC LICENSE FAIR in October.
Mary is videotaping her explanation for the online series of classes she will give soon. She also spoke of wanting to set up a gallery venue for members’ older work to be exhibited and auctioned.
Thom is working with Linda’s images by using overlays of paint similar but not the same colors as Linda had used. He announced that 3 of his works were juried into ART VENTURE 2018 to be exhibited at the Segerstrom Center Concert Hall in November.
Roger showed on his phone the recent paintings of animals that were exhibited at the OC Fair and will be shown at the Segerstrom Center Concert Hall in November.
Randall is working on commissions to paint peoples’ pets. He has spent much time renovating our SCA website to be easier to navigate. Randall is available for hire designing web pages and logos.
Janet is currently showing at the Coastline Gallery FISH OUT OF WATER exhibit. Her new encaustic work was juried into the international exhibit MELTING POT/MELTING POINT in Santa Fe, NM.
Sharon mentioned spending a lot of time rescuing and/ or feeding the feral kittens in her neighborhood. She plans to return to her studio work this fall.
