Exhibition celebrates and highlights the spatial confine of 144-square inches.

At some point throughout their careers, most artists will impart upon the viewer a small square window into their world, called a 12” x 12”. This spatial confine of 144- square inches, two-dimensions equal on all sides, lends the artist a perfectly balanced emptiness with which they use to freely express themselves, utilizing a vast array of subjects, styles, and mediums. Therefore, by imposing this spatial uniformity on themselves, the artists can counterintuitively create a diverse vibrancy in their work. Every artists’ 12” x 12” then functions as a contradiction; a collection of these pieces is both a display of the artist’s individuality, and a cohesive assemblage of equivalently sized works of art.

The Arts Commission invites the public to attend the artist reception and awards presentation on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
