This annual juried exhibit showcases artwork from all over the state of California. Made in California strives to highlight artists in all stages of their careers and offers them a chance to compete for a number of awards, including the coveted solo show opportunity. This regional show features artwork from an extensive variety of mediums and explores creative movements happening in California.

This year's exhibition will be juried and awarded by a panel comprised of Brea Gallery Director Heather Bowling, Curatorial Staff, and guest juror Evan Senn, curator for the Golden West College Art Gallery. They are excited to hand out over $2,200 in cash prizes for awards including First, Second, Third Place, Mayor's Choice, Staff Picks and more!

During the weekend of June 13th and 14th, the Gallery's Fresh{AIR} artist in residence program will feature two artists who will spend the whole weekend in the Gallery creating work, engaging with viewers, and answering questions live on Facebook and Instagram.

The opening reception for artists, collectors, the public and the press will be held on Friday, May 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the awards presentation taking place at 8:30 p.m. at the Admiral Nimitz Museum. Various informative and educational demonstrations, talks and seminars are being planned for the convention, preceding the opening of the exhibition.

Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

The total national awards will be approximately $100,000, including a $25,000 Best in Show. Cash and merchandise awards for the Wet Paint competition will be a minimum of $15,000.
