I love to examine life. At the age of 18, I found myself living overseas and stayed overseas in various countries for 18 more years. I taught elementary school and worked at The US Embassies. It was not until I got older that my beginnings began to make sense.
Today, I write and illustrate children’s book because I want to share foreign cultures with our children and MORE importantly I want children to see that we are all more alike than different. My aim with Ahmed’s Journey is to help children and their caregivers talk about emotions and feelings.
Our experiences may be unique, but the emotions: fear, joys, sorrows, and thrills are part of what it means to be human. This human connection connects us.
I also wrote Nothando’s Journey, the book was illustrated by Alyssa Casey.
