ART STATEMENT FOR “INSPIRATION”

by Thom Wright, 2017

Our historic past, the present on the cusp, and the uncertain future

Mankind and Nature are now at war with each other

Humanity’s growth, pollution and destruction seem uncontrollable

Consequently, Climate Change seems unstoppable

But this coming catastrophe is self-generated, and potentially reversible

With new technologies, new behaviors and adaptations

Inspire leaders and us to find directions, take actions and set limits

Without succumbing to global internecine war

Eventually to reach a sustainable and interdependent balance

Nature Prevails at BC Space

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BC Space Gallery is pleased to present Nature Prevails featuring Southern California Artists, a non-profit association dedicated to advancing the dialogue, education, inspiration and interaction of its members to enhance their creative endeavors. For this exhibition, eighteen SCA artists responded to the challenge to present artwork that focuses on mankind’s complex relationship with nature at a time when sages and scientists alike are concerned about the future viability of that relationship. The exhibition, curated by gallery director Mark Chamberlain, includes painting, photography, and sculpture that collectively address many of those concerns.

Nature Prevails opens on Saturday, September 23, 2017
with a public reception from 6-9 PM,
and will be on display through Thursday, December 21.

Additional events are planned for a Spoken Word performance on Thursday, Oct. 19, 7-9 PM, and for a closing reception and Solstice Celebration on Dec. 21, 7-9 PM.
